i lost a dear friend to suicide a couple months ago. normally, it's hard for me to write about deeply personal experiences. this was different. my new song "travis" is just what i was feeling. loss, regret, failure. i finished and released it two weeks ago. the next night, another friend took her own life. it's left me feeling lost. i just want to say this, as cliché as it may be: hold your loved ones close. tell them that you love them every single chance you get. you really don't know when you won't have another chance. and it might even save a life.
lyrics
closer than you were
farther than you would be
if you weren't alone
but not like anybody
could make it feel like home
least the way it should be
a joy you've never known
i was so caught up
i was not perceptive
i was not your friend
the shoulder when you needed
i let you get away
i didn't see it coming
up until the end
i was not your friend
still i think you'll call
tell me that's it's alright
you never left at all
i can't believe it's over
i miss you all the time
and so does everybody
we miss you all the time
